How to play Dice Burst

Dice Burst is a dice merge puzzle on a small grid. Every number has its own color, so you can read the whole board at a glance and plan the next chain.

A move, step by step

  1. Pick a die. You hold three dice. Pick one of them.
  2. Drop it. Put it into any empty cell on the board.
  3. Merge three alike. Three dice with the same number in a row merge into one die, one pip higher. Four alike in a 2×2 square merge too.
  4. Chain. Each merge lifts every die touching it by one pip. If that makes another three alike, they merge as well.
  5. Blast. Three dice of the highest number blast off the board and take dice with them.

Chains and blasts are where the points are. How chains and blasts work.

Dice that drop in by themselves

Every few moves, a die drops onto the board by itself. Use it before its countdown runs out — merge it, or lift it with a merge next to it — or it hardens. A hardened cell holds nothing and never merges. As you get better, the game adds more pressure: empty cells can harden too, so the board slowly gets smaller.

Rerolls

Don't like your hand? Reroll it, three times a game. Pass your high score mid-game and you get two extra rerolls on the spot.

Joker die

Points fill the joker gauge, one joker for every 10,000 points, and you hold one at a time. Your first one is free. Drag a joker onto any die and it turns, right where it sits, into the number that merges biggest. Unused jokers stay for your next game.

Board sizes

Your first games are on 6×6. After three games you can also pick 4×4 or 5×5. The highest number is the board size — 4, 5 or 6 — and each size keeps its own high score.

When the game ends

The game ends when there is no room left to drop a die. In the app you can watch an optional video to clear the lowest dice and keep going.
